Meet Zac Crawford - Technical Director
Zac Crawford is the Technical Director for the Alabama Soccer Association. Zac is originally from Memphis, TN and played collegiately at Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. Zac has a variety of experiences with the state of Alabama, and specifically ASA, with programs such as ODP, and outreach/grassroots soccer programs in Sumter and Green Counties. During his time at Northridge H.S. in Tuscaloosa, he served as a Special Education and Social Studies teacher, and coached the Boys’ Varsity team.
Seeking out more education in the area of non-profit sports, he went on to work for the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs during the 2008 Beijing Games, and relocated to Evergreen, CO as the Developmental Director of Coaching (Ages 4-8) for Stingers Soccer Club in August of 2009. After his first successful year of growing the club’s player numbers and educating coaches, he was promoted to Girls Director of Coaching for the 2010-2011 seasons, and was elevated to the position of General Manager and was responsible for all operations for the Stingers from July 2011 through September 2013. As GM, he successfully guided the club to a prospering and healthy Developmental Program (U4-U8) and a 2012-2013 fiscal year net profit.
Zac was also involved in Colorado with the state Olympic Development Program as a coach and talent evaluator. He served Colorado Youth Soccer (now Colorado Soccer Association) in various capacities as a coach with the Young Olympians Program, as a member of the state coaching education staff, and as a member of both the Recreational League Operations Committee and Disciplinary Committee.
As ASA’s Technical Director, Zac oversees the Olympic Development Program, Coaching Education program, and Outreach programs, as well as all facets of player/coach development. He is available as a resource for coaches, parents, players, and administrators.
Zac holds the U.S.S.F. ‘A’ License and National Youth License, the N.S.C.A.A. ‘Premier Diploma’ and ‘Regional Goalkeeping’ Diploma, and a TOPS Soccer Level 1 Certification. He also earned two Master’s Degrees (Cognitive Psychology and Human Performance with an emphasis in Sport Management) from the University of Alabama.
